Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Engineer – AI-Powered Full Stack & DevOps.
What’s the role?
This is a senior, hands-on full stack and DevOps engineering role focused on designing, building, deploying, and operating AI-powered web and data applications, along with intelligent, agent-based solutions, within a modern cloud environment.
The primary focus is on pro-code full stack development. You will also play a key role in productionising low-code AI solutions - bringing both approaches together under a single engineering framework with consistent standards for security, observability, and lifecycle management.
What do I need?
- Proven experience designing, building and supporting scalable applications, with integration across enterprise APIs, identity platforms, and data services.
- Hands-on experience developing and operating full stack web and data applications in Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- Practical, production-level experience working with Generative AI technologies, including Azure OpenAI or similar services, and applying modern AI design patterns such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent-based workflows, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong coding capability in at least two of the following: TypeScript/JavaScript (React/Next.js), Python, Java, C#/.NET, along with solid SQL and data modelling skills. Experience with scripting (e.g. PowerShell) is also beneficial.
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio and Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, custom connectors) or similar low-code platforms.
- Strong DevOps/DevSecOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, secure secret management, and release governance.
- Ability to apply strong engineering fundamentals to emerging delivery patterns — including taking early-stage or prototype solutions and evolving them into secure, scalable, and production-ready services.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, developers, architects, and security teams.
