Avant Law is seeking a Paralegal to join our Brisbane team on a full-time permanent basis. If you are passionate about collaboration, advocacy and making a difference for Avant’s members we want to hear from you.
The key responsibilities include:
- Assisting Solicitors in the management of a legal practice and contribute to the effective functioning of the Legal team.
- Provide an administrative support function to Avant Law including assisting to prepare legal documentation including briefs, drafting correspondence, preparation of summaries and chronologies, court filing, liaising with witnesses, experts, court and/or tribunal staff and assisting with processing of Avant Law’s invoices for professional services.
- Assisting with general office administration including supporting the Medico Legal Advice line and CAL IB lines with calls from Avant members.
- Co-ordinating meetings and travel arrangements.
- Processing accounts payable invoices, monthly billings and MasterCard reconciliations.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Previous demonstrated experience in a paralegal or administrative position in a legal environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fast and accurate typing skills including digital dictation typing.
- Experience drafting and formatting legal documentation including briefs and court documentation.
- The ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines and show attention to detail.
- Intermediate level of competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience in preparing and maintaining legal files.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
