With the continued growth in digital channels Bunnings is expanding the software engineering team to further bolster what is a stellar team . As a Tech Lead you will be responsible for architecting & overseeing implementation of our platform across all parts of the stack for our digital channels within a cross functional team .
You will be a key conduit between Product Managers, Designers, Delivery Leads and your Development Team to lead the problem solving and design of a solution. You will be a leader of agile software engineering practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming. You will form a part of a cross-functional team and expected to make a significant contribution to the success of the team’s objectives and culture. You will use have strong people management as this role will have 3 – 5 direct report responsibilities.
A s a Tech Lead , you can expect to:
Assist in development and drive of the digital platform's technology strategy
D irectly manage and coach software engineers
Participate in o versee ing a maintainable, high quality , secure and performant codebase
Implement new features in a highly collaborative environment with product managers, designers and engineers.
Work in an agile team, where iterative experimentation and data driven decisions with product and UX is valued
Effectively communicate your technical solutions and product ideas with the team
Mentor other engineering team members
Help develop platform technical strategy, drive alignment through a large team, help triage and make decisions from multiple streams of technical work.
Active ly manage and reduc e of platform technical debt, continually ratcheting quality
Develop a cross functional mindset in team members as squads work on multiple platforms and languages
To be successful in this role, you will be a detail oriented, outcome driven problem solver who is well versed with working with in agile environments . As a passionate technologist yo u are all about knowledge sharing and upskilling and have exc e l lent collaboration and communication skills . Further requirements include :
8+ years of software engineering experience that include backend experience
Proven experience leading a team of software engineers
Experience designing and developing API’S
Strong foundations in Web Standards and solid experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and at least one typed language (C# or Java)
Strong knowledge of Software Design Patterns and Principles
Experience with microservices design
DevOps experience with knowledge on how to setup, configure, and maintain a high t hroughput SDLC
Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices such as agile software development, continuous deployment, behaviour driven development, code review, design documentation, infrastructure as code.
Good knowledge of containerization technologies and adoption thereof
Experience with designing cloud native platforms
