Context:
In this role, you will contribute to the analysis, design and delivery of a diverse range of building structures projects, working closely with senior engineers, drafters and broader project teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with early post-graduate experience to further develop technical capability, build project delivery skills and grow toward independent engineering responsibility. The key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Missions/Main Duties:
- Deliver structural analysis, design and documentation for a broad range of building projects as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

Support the management, coordination and timely delivery of project outputs across all phases of the project lifecycle, including construction.

Prepare engineering calculations, reports, technical specifications and other design documentation to a high standard of quality and accuracy.

Review architectural drawings, survey information and other project data to inform practical and efficient structural design solutions.

Liaise effectively with internal team members, external consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to coordinate design outcomes and resolve issues collaboratively.

Undertake site inspections and provide construction-phase support to verify design intent and respond to project queries.

Apply relevant legislation, Australian Standards and internal quality processes to ensure compliant, safe and fit-for-purpose engineering outcomes.

Contribute to continuous learning, mentoring and business improvement initiatives while actively supporting BG&E’s culture, values and collaborative way of working.
Profile/Skills:
You are a motivated and capable structural engineer with at least 2 years of post-graduate experience in building structures design, and you are looking to further develop your technical capability within a collaborative consulting environment. You bring a solid grounding in structural engineering principles, a proactive approach to learning, and a genuine enthusiasm for contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

A bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, or higher, recognised by Engineers Australia.

A minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with experience in building structures design.

Sound knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to the design of building structures.

A strong understanding of structural design principles and the interaction between structures and other building disciplines.

Experience in the analysis and design of common Australian building structures across a range of materials and systems.

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Spacegass, Structural Toolkit and RAM Concept, or similar.

Exposure to advanced structural software such as ETABS or Strand7 would be viewed favourably.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, drafters, consultants and contractors.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities, contribute to project delivery and maintain quality standards.

A commitment to professional development, teamwork and working in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and internal processes.
