The NSW Department of Education seeks a Senior Application Analyst to develop and maintain large, complex corporate systems that support our core business through process and technology. Working with the supervisor to plan, document, and report, you will provide technical expertise across the full software development lifecycle, manage task schedules with status, milestones, critical path, and risk variations, and translate user enhancements into fit-for-purpose design specifications.
You will lead testing, gather feedback to improve quality, conduct design walkthroughs, and manage control-system testing; assist with deployment planning and provide ongoing systems support.
You will deliver third-level technical support to minimise outages, analyse and resolve issues, escalate when needed, monitor trends, and capture post-release knowledge with thorough documentation (change requests, guides, asset/configuration registers).
You will balance urgent and routine tasks for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment and stay current with industry trends and technologies.

About you
- Experience in developing and supporting large, complex corporate systems.
- Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, testing, and release processes.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and robust designs.
- Experience with incident management, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution at a senior level.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes and to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and translate user requirements into computer-based programs and systems.
- Sound working knowledge of IT service management principles and frameworks including ITIL, process tools, frameworks, and best practice methods.
- Ability to adhere to a quality management system and formal methodologies.
- A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
