WSP Australia is seeking a skilled and experienced Associate to Associate Director level Mechanical Engineer to join our Sydney team.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will contribute to a range of exciting projects across Transport, Aviation, Defence, Data Centre, Commercial and other sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects, demonstrate leadership, and contribute to the continued success and growth of our business.
We will give priority to Australian citizens for this role because of the security clearance requirements on Defence projects; however, applications from non-citizens will also be considered.
As an Associate/ Associate Director level Mechanical Engineer, you will provide expertise in Mechanical design for both single and multi-disciplinary projects. Your role will involve leading medium to large-sized design projects, ensuring best practice delivery while managing costs and timelines, and developing strong relationships with clients. This role is also an opportunity to drive the development of our Building Services team and contribute to the achievement of our strategic goals.

Provide mechanical design leadership on both single and multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sectors.

Lead medium to large-sized engineering design projects and support or run larger, more complex projects to ensure effective and efficient delivery.

Maintain clear and consistent communication with external clients and authorities, as well as internal colleagues and managers, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

Deliver best practices to achieve optimal outcomes for clients, focusing on saving time and reducing costs without compromising on quality.

Build solid, long-term relationships with clients, identifying new business development opportunities and understanding their evolving needs.

Contribute to the development and growth of the business unit by supporting strategic goals and initiatives aimed at enhancing overall success.

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
-
Expertise in Mechanical building services engineering and design documentation.
-
12+ years’ industry experience on Australian building services projects, ideally in a consulting environment.

Well versed in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging in scale and sector.

Strong client relationship management and project management skills.

Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Sound working knowledge of relevant Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3000, NCC etc.).

Understanding of BIM, NavisWorks and Revit MEP (advantageous).

Strong proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP).
