Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Post Graduate Fellow to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
We are looking for a Post Graduate Fellow in Kidney Transplant Surgery! The primary purpose of the role of the Post Graduate Fellow in Kidney Transplant Surgery is to provide program of additional training to develop subspecialty interests and further develop core clinical skills required in this area. The Post Graduate Fellow will have completed advanced training to become a specialist medical practitioner in Transplantation Surgery or have completed specialist training in another discipline relevant to the Fellowship training program.
The Post Graduate Fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Transplantation at the level of Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Transplant Surgery Department and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as required.
They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment that supports education, research and professional development.
The Post Graduate Fellow will work within Transplantation Surgery primarily, with exposure to kidney transplantation, donor surgery as well as liver transplantation. The position is primarily for the purpose of expanding the knowledge and understanding of the incumbent in a multi-disciplinary pre-operative assessment, operative procedures and postoperative kidney transplant care.
The position is for a surgeon wishing to pursue a career as a kidney transplant and dialysis access surgeon. A formal rotation with the Liver Transplant Service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is possible, if agreed with the incumbent Liver Transplant Fellow. There is an advanced trainee in General Surgery and the Post Graduate Fellow and Registrar are expected to work together in a collaborative fashion to help provide high quality continuing care for the patients in the unit. The position also involves outpatient-based assessment and management of patients and the expectation of attendance at clinical meetings of the unit. The Post Graduate Fellow Kidney Transplantation Surgery will be expected to attend the pre-transplant assessment clinic as well as be the first port of call for post-transplant patients attending ambulatory care. Involvement in ongoing research projects will be strongly encouraged.
Current medical practitioner, registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (completion of advanced training in Liver Transplantation Surgery/the Australia and New Zealand Training Board of Liver Transplantation Surgery), and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. (Note: Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to, or within three months of the expected commencement date, may be considered.)
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
