SALHN – 2026 Staff Specialist – Neurovascular Consultant Neurosurgeon
Flinders Medical Centre is seeking a fellowship-trained Consultant Neurosurgeon to deliver specialist care within one of South Australia's leading tertiary neurosurgery departments, on a part-time, ongoing basis. You will bring consultant-level expertise across complex neurosurgical presentations, with a subspecialty interest in neurovascular surgery — open, interventional, or both — highly regarded. Alongside your clinical work, you will contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement in a multidisciplinary team committed to raising the standard of neurological care across Adelaide's southern metro region.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing a clinical service to Neurosurgery Department patients, clinical leadership and contributes to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of care
Duties for the role will include:
Working harmoniously with all members of the clinical team,
Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues,
Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients,
Coordinating the follow up care of patients,
Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
About you:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award,
Broad exposure to General Neurosurgery and Neurovascular, both open and INR surgeries,
Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Neurosurgery,
Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills,
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team,
Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification,
Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff,
Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Neurosurgery
