Play a key role in supporting Beach Energy’s commercial and operational success through high-quality legal advice and partnership with the business.
Beach Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal support across a wide range of energy, commercial and corporate matters. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure legal risks are managed effectively while enabling business outcomes.
Working across exploration, production and corporate functions, you will contribute to the delivery of key projects, transactions and operational activities by providing practical, commercially focused legal advice.
As part of Beach Energy’s Legal & Corporate Affairs function, you will help support compliance, manage risk and contribute to the continued growth and success of the business. About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager Risk & Legal Operations, this role provides legal advisory, transactional support and risk management across Beach’s operations.
This role is ideal for a motivated legal professional who enjoys working across diverse legal matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide legal advice across joint venture, contractual, regulatory and commercial matters across the business.
Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including service, consultancy and confidentiality arrangements.
Support acquisitions, divestments and other corporate transactions.
Assist with land access, regulatory approvals and tenement-related legal matters.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide advisory updates to stakeholders.
Contribute to risk management processes, including identifying legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
Support dispute resolution activities and liaise with external legal providers as required.
About You
We are looking for a capable and commercially minded legal professional who can build strong relationships and deliver practical, solutions-focused legal advice.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
Experience in commercial legal practice, ideally within energy, resources or infrastructure sectors.
Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
Ability to provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to support business decisions.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
Sound commercial acumen and ability to understand business drivers.
A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across teams.
Current Australian practising certificate as a legal practitioner.
