About the role
As Infrastructure Engineer you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of critical technology environments. In this position, you will provide Level 3 diagnostics and resolution for complex infrastructure challenges, while actively managing and maintaining NHVR’s infrastructure ecosystems.
You’ll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by delivering performance enhancements, supporting capacity planning, and driving automation through modern Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, helping to create scalable and optimised systems that support the organisation’s mission.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Perform complex L3 diagnostics and resolution activities, including escalations from the Workplace Technology team (e.g., server performance tuning, storage optimisation).
- Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure, including VM provisioning, clustering, and advanced configurations to ensure performance and scalability.
- Oversee backup and recovery systems, performing DR testing and remediation activities to ensure the availability of crucial systems.
- Implement and contribute to the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks by creating scripts (e.g., Terraform and PowerShell) to automate recurring infrastructure tasks.
- Document SOPs for infrastructure tasks, maintenance workflows, and lessons learned from incident resolutions for knowledge-sharing and process improvements.
- Optimise system monitoring capabilities by contributing to the implementation of logging and alerting tools, helping to reduce incident response times.
- Monitor and analyse system performance, identifying opportunities to optimise and improve existing environments to support organisational goals.
