Are you an experienced Ward Clerk who thrives in a fast-paced acute healthcare environment? Macquarie University Hospital is launching Ward 4 East, a purpose-built Step-Down Cardiology and Angiography Day Recovery Unit, and we are looking for a dedicated Ward Clerk to be a foundational member of this exciting new team on a permanent full-time basis.
This is a unique opportunity to help establish the administrative operations of a newly created cardiac unit from the ground up. You will be the central coordination point for the ward, supporting the multidisciplinary cardiology team to deliver exceptional patient care across an 8-bed monitored step-down ward, 8 shared Angiography Stage 2 Recovery rooms, and 15 private inpatient rooms.

About the Role
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of Ward 4 East, you will provide efficient administrative and clerical support that is integral to the smooth operation of the unit. Key responsibilities include:
Providing reception and clerical support to the nursing and multidisciplinary teams, acting as the first point of contact for patients, families, medical staff, and visitors.
Maintaining accurate patient records, admissions, transfers, and discharges within electronic medical record systems.
Coordinating patient bookings, transport requests, and appointments as required.
Supporting daily ward operations and patient flow within the cardiology and recovery areas.
Liaising with medical staff, bed management, allied health, and support services to facilitate efficient care coordination.
Managing ward phone calls, emails, and enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Monitoring and maintaining ward supplies, stationery, and stock levels.

You are a highly organised and proactive administrator with experience in a healthcare environment. You bring outstanding communication skills, a calm and professional manner under pressure, and a genuine commitment to supporting clinical teams and ensuring patients have a positive experience.
Selection Criteria
Previous administrative or ward clerk experience within a healthcare environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and customer service.
Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Understanding of medical terminology and/or previous experience in a cardiology, acute care, or procedural ward environment (desirable).
