- Facilitate the delivery of system and digital platform enhancements for the NSW Air Quality Monitoring Network, one of Australia's largest environmental monitoring networks.
- Coordinate digital and data projects that enhance air quality data management and help deliver reliable, real-time air quality information to communities across NSW through the Air Quality NSW website.

- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super
Our Climate and Atmospheric Science Branch is seeking a Senior Project Officer IT to support the design, development and delivery of systems and digital solutions that underpin the NSW Air Quality Monitoring Network and Air Quality NSW website (www.airquality.nsw.gov.au).
Working within a complex operational environment, you will work closely with scientists, monitoring specialists, vendors and IT teams, helping to translate business requirements into practical solutions. You will coordinate system improvements, support project delivery, contribute to process and service improvements, and help ensure reliable and accessible air quality information is available to government, industry and the community.
You will contribute to the ongoing evolution of critical environmental data systems, including data management platforms, APIs, dashboards and digital services, ensuring solutions are customer-focused, sustainable and aligned with organisational priorities.
About You
You are an experienced project, data or systems professional with a strong background in coordinating digital initiatives, business systems improvements or data management projects. You are comfortable working across multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities and supporting the delivery of complex projects in operational environments.
You have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills and enjoy working collaboratively with technical specialists and external service providers. You can analyse problems, identify practical solutions and help coordinate activities that deliver meaningful business outcomes.
You enjoy working collaboratively, can influence and negotiate at all levels, and remain adaptable in a changing environment. With a continuous improvement mindset, you are motivated by delivering effective, sustainable digital solutions that support organisational objectives and meaningful public outcomes.
Highly desirable
- Experience acting as a liaison between business users, vendors and technical teams to support system improvements and digital solutions.
- Experience working with databases, data platforms, APIs or system integrations.
- Experience supporting reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI.
Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in planning, implementing and managing complex data management system and digital projects to achieve priority objectives
Essential requirements
- Degree qualification in a relevant Technology discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.

Working at the intersection of science, policy and delivery, Science & Insights collaborates across government, academia, industry and communities to identify priority issues and deliver practical, high-impact solutions.
