Full Job Description

The Service

KU John J. Carroll Preschool, in the heart of leafy Surry Hills between Crown Street and Bourke Street. It is a lovely quaint two room preschool with a special interest in community and parent partnerships, offering children the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of learning experiences and activities, each specifically designed to promote children’s confidence as capable, active participants in their own learning. The preschool has a friendly longstanding team and is only a short walk from the lightrail stop.

The Role

This role is a direct result of our groundbreaking KU Children’s Services Teacher’s Enterprise Agreement 2025. Our new agreement is designed to continue setting new benchmarks in the sector, providing our employees with the best conditions. The new Agreement features increased Educational Leader and programming time, more child-free days, up to 15 weeks paid parental leave provisions, building on our already amazing staff supports and benefits.

You will work on permanent, part time basis (38 hours per fortnight) providing relief to the Director for educational leader and administration duties. The breakdown of the role is as below:

Week 1 – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7.6 hours per day

Week 2 – Thursday and Friday, 7.6 hours per day

You will also be able to join our casual pool and pick up additional work on non-contracted days if desired.

Of course, you will need:

Australian working rights
A current NSW Working with Children Check
An ACECQA recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree
Completed training in Child Protection legislation and National Child Safety Training completed through Geccko
Current First Aid and CPR certificates along with current separate approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates
NESA Teacher Accreditation
Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)
