IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, we are seeking a H igh Voltage / Substations Maintenance Engineer to oversee the reliability, maintenance, and asset management of high-voltage substations and transmission equipment. This role focuses on coordinating maintenance and testing activities, managing spare parts strategy, and interpreting condition monitoring data (including transformer oil analysis) to ensure safe and reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure for our Australian assets. T his role is ideal for a skilled engineer with experience in utility or power-intensive heavy industrial environments

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with minimum 5 years of related experience.
Broad experience preferably in operations and maintenance of high voltage substations and medium voltage distribution in an electrical utility or heavy industrial setup.
Knowledge of Protection and Control systems as applied to high voltage substation and apparatus, like transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, etc.
Troubleshooting abilities, able to read electrical control diagrams and schematics.
Able to perform root cause analysis or in-depth technical investigations.
Keen to work with boots on the ground when needed, side by side with trades,supervisorsor other technical personnel.
Good leadership skills and interpersonal relations in order to lead by influencing.
Experience in problem solving and critical thinking in a fast-paced growth environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to cater to different audiences with diverse backgrounds, from junior staff to senior leadership.
Self-driven individual, with attention to detail and ability to execute high-quality work with limited direction.
Ability to deal comfortably with uncertainty and limited resources or information.
Flexible to attend site and assist as necessary outside of normal business hours in case of key project activities or system events.
Proficiency on technical software tools required to perform electrical engineering tasks.

Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for substations and transmission equipment.
Maintain strong working knowledge of substation components, including Power transformers and auxiliary systems, circuit breakers (SF6, vacuum, etc.), disconnect switches and grounding systems, instrument transformers (CTs, VTs),protection and control systems
Understand common failure modes and maintenance requirements for each asset type
Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors performing testing, inspections, and maintenance.Review maintenance and testing contractor method statements and ensure safe execution of work
Review andvalidatetesting and commissioning reports to ensure quality and compliance.
Provide technical support during faults, outages, and root cause investigations.
Identify critical spares for key equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switch gear, protection systems, and auxiliary equipment
Develop and maintain a comprehensive spare parts strategy for them, ensuring optimal inventory levels based on criticality, lead times, and risk assessments.
Oversee transformer oil sampling programs and ensure proper procedures are followed, interpretingoil analysis resultsanduse them alongother condition monitoring data to assess asset health and predict potential failures
Recommend corrective actions based on trends and diagnostic results
Support audits, reporting and regulatory compliance
