The Role
Champion Bay SHS is seeking a highly motivated Health and Physical Education Teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Flexibility in practice will be highly regarded, as well as a commitment to personal and professional growth. The successful applicant should possess high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within the school community and neighbouring schools.
The successful applicant for this position should be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. You should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Health and Physical Education curriculum. Ideally, as an expert practitioner you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to complete) is highly desirable.
Teachers at Champion Bay SHS will ideally provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. The successful applicant should have knowledge of High Impact Teaching Strategies (Teachwell or similar), formative assessment, Classroom Management System (CMS) approaches in building positive relationships and engaging families in their child’s learning. As a teacher at Champion Bay SHS, you should be committed to helping develop and implement our school wide pedagogical framework.
The school has a strong Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focus, working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices utilising the school’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and embed 21st Century Skills within their teaching and learning.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Champion Bay SHS in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
