Job Description
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you'll take ownership of testing and analysis of construction materials whilst building expertise across laboratory and field environments. You'll prepare samples, maintain equipment, engage directly with clients, and prepare comprehensive reports—all whilst contributing to safe, efficient and high-quality testing services. As a valued team member, you'll also mentor Assistant Geotechnicians and Technical Assistants, developing your leadership capabilities whilst working within a collaborative and safety-focused culture.
This position is initially based in Perth; however, applicants who are willing to relocate to Kalgoorlie in the future will be highly regarded. Whilst relocation is not essential, the successful candidate will be required to travel to Kalgoorlie periodically for short-term assignments and operational support. Flexibility to undertake these trips as business needs arise is an important aspect of the role.
What you'll be doing

Prepare, collect and log construction material samples for testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.

Perform routine laboratory and field testing, developing expertise across diverse testing methodologies and standards.

Set up, calibrate, maintain and clean testing equipment and work areas to the highest standards.

Correlate test data, prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to customers, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy.

Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and reliable service delivery.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas to enhance laboratory safety, efficiency and quality outcomes.

Mentor and guide Assistant Geotechnicians and Technical Assistants, fostering their professional development and technical growth.
Qualifications
About you
-
Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or a qualification in Civil Engineering.

Previous experience working within a laboratory environment.

Approved NATA Signatory status in Rocks, Aggregate, Concrete or Masonry will be highly regarded.

Current WA C Class Driver’s Licence.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence liaising with clients and customers.
