SELECTION CRITERIA:
What you'll do as a Committee Clerk
Committees gather evidence and produce reports on their inquiries. A Committee Clerk works in a team with an Advisory Officer and a Research Officer. A Committee Clerk is expected to undertake research tasks to support the Advisory Officer in addition to the administrative work for a committee or several committees. We are interested in people who have a team approach and enjoy challenging work environments.
You will:
- work well under pressure
- be able to switch between various tasks efficiently
- have excellent time management skills
- be interested in research tasks
- enjoy working in a team.
The administrative work for parliamentary committees includes:
- taking minutes of meetings
- publishing committee material
- maintaining the committee’s records
- arranging committee travel
- organising committee meetings and hearings
- liaising with witnesses and other stakeholders
- providing procedural advice when required.
Reporting and Location
The position is based in the Legislative Council Committee Office, located in a building opposite Parliament House in West Perth. You will report to the Parliamentary Officer (Committees) and assist at least one parliamentary committee.
