Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)

Location: Mawson Lakes SA 5095

The Boatdeck Cafe is a well-established lakeside café and restaurant located in Mawson Lakes, South Australia. Operating in a vibrant waterfront setting, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering quality food, excellent customer service, and a welcoming dining experience for both locals and visitors. The venue offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, beverages, catering, and function services, with a diverse menu featuring modern Australian cuisine, seafood, pasta, pizza, steaks, salads, and café-style dining options.

The Boatdeck Cafe is known for its commitment to using quality ingredients, maintaining high food preparation standards, and creating dishes that cater to a wide range of customer preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. The restaurant operates in a fast-paced hospitality environment and prides itself on providing a professional yet relaxed dining atmosphere overlooking the waterways of Mawson Lakes.

We are now looking to recruit a Chef to join our dedicated and professional team on a full time and permanent basis.

Responsibilities

Plan, organise, and oversee the preparation and cooking of food at The Boatdeck Cafe, ensuring high-quality meals, efficient kitchen operations, and compliance with food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of menu items to a high standard
Assist in menu planning and creating daily specials
Monitor food quality, presentation, cooking times, and portion control
Supervise and support kitchen staff in daily operations
Train junior kitchen staff on food preparation and cooking procedures
Coordinate with management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory levels
Maintain cleanliness and ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety regulations

Qualifications

AQF Associate Degree
Advanced Diploma or Diploma

Experience

At least three years of relevant experience.

Skills and Attributes

Professional attitude and appearance
Strong communication skills
Reliable with a dedicated work ethic
