About the role:

John Holland as part of a JV has been awarded a major works contract for the delivery of Light Rail Stage 2A – City to Commonwealth Park in Canberra ACT. The project will see three new stops built at Edinburgh Avenue, City South and Commonwealth Avenue, extending the network by 1.7 kilometres.

What you will bring:
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and solutions-focused Project Engineer with a strong background in rail, civil or infrastructure delivery. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced project environment, can work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors and project teams, and is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a city-shaping infrastructure project that delivers lasting benefits for the Canberra community.

Key Responsibilities

Manage project activities and work scope
Liaise with Client, Subcontractors and all project stakeholders
Assist Senior PE and act as focal point for technical structural advice, providing the project with best practice methods
Help ensure project is delivered to programme, budget and the highest safety standards
Management of plant, labour and materials
Monitor monthly forecasts
Provide innovative problem solving and technical expertise
Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

Skills & Experience required:

Tertiary qualifications Construction / Engineering Discipline
Demonstrated skills in programming, cost control, quality assurance, safety and supervision/people management
Previous work in a Rail environment and technical knowledge of track works
Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment
Well-developed organisational skills and able to pay attention to detail
The ability to work to deadlines and targets and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
