Create your best future and join Westpac as a WIB Credit Officer – Credit Risk.
What’s the role?
You’ll play a key role in assessing and managing credit risk across a portfolio of real estate clients within Westpac Institutional Bank. Based in Sydney, this is a full‑time opportunity where you’ll partner closely with relationship managers and risk teams to support sound lending decisions.
Day to day, you’ll review credit proposals, identify key risks, and make informed decisions within your delegated authority. You’ll build strong relationships across the business, offering clear guidance on risk and helping shape credit strategies. You’ll also monitor portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks early and supporting practical, balanced solutions.
This role offers strong exposure to Real Estate and Complex transactions within Westpac Institutional Bank, and the opportunity to develop your credit judgement while contributing to a consistent and disciplined risk culture.
What do I need?
- Experience assessing, managing and decisioning credit risk. Direct experience and strong competencies in Real Estate is expected. Familiarity with the Australian and New Zealand industries would be well regarded.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to identify key risks and make sound, balanced credit decisions
- Confidence to operate within delegated authority, making considered decisions on higher‑value transactions
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence and handle challenging conversations
- A collaborative, proactive mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
A growth mindset - we’re open to outstanding candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong fundamentals and clear potential to develop.
