We’re looking for an Application Architect, essentially an experienced backend engineer with strong skills in .NET, C#, and API development. It’s a great step‑up role for someone wanting to build deeper experience in design and architecture.

Demonstrated experience in integration work is essential, this is a core requirement for the role.

Opportunity Snapshot

Bupa has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Sitecore Application Architect to join our Domestic Retail and Digital domain. Our application architecture is evolving, and we are looking for fresh perspectives to usher in a modern design to enable our rapid growth and focus on our digital platforms.

As the Integration Application Architect, you will join our technology team and be responsibility for the end-to end architecture and design of Bupa’s integrations, associated application stack and services.

The role will play a key role on transforming the monolithic solutions in to composable & loosely coupled architecture hosted on docker and Kubernetes Services which provides great performance and rapid speed to market.

This role will lead the definition, oversight, and governance of architectural patterns for our APIs and services in the Health Insurance Digital and Marketing Technology estate, and will work collaboratively with the engineering, feature teams, security architects and analysts. You will also play a lead role in the wider architecture community at Bupa, exchanging information with the community and showcasing the Digital architecture.

You will be an engaging technical leader with exceptional communication skills and a clear passion for empowering data-driven decision making across government.

What you’ll need to make it possible

Tertiary qualification in an IT discipline or related field.
Extensive [ 10+ years’] experience in application architecture and design with minimum 6 years’ experience in a .NET and API Services.
Extensive experience in application architecture and design with ideally in a large organisation or a scale up role.
Excellent Sitecore, .NET and C# experience including Web Services development and deployment. Microsoft certification advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong experience with front end development tools and frameworks especially server side react, ideally Next.js.
Demonstrated experience with Azure Cloud Applications and DevOps.
Certification and extensive experience working with architecture frameworks / methods.
Proven ability to leverage technical expertise to guide teams and influence decision makers.
SQL Server, Oracle or other SQL experience mandatory, experience with NoSQL databases advantageous.
Experience with Agile, Lean and Human Centred Design methodologies advantageous.
Significant development experience using MVC framework and multi-tier architectures.
You are an advanced strategic thinker, effective at managing change and multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, with the ability to see the bigger picture.
Knowledge of the health insurance business (desirable).
Digital experience in the health care sector is desirable.
