As Principal Data Platform Lead in our Data Analytics Services team at eHealth NSW, you will own the operational management and ongoing enhancement of NSW Health’s Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) – the platform that powers clinical, operational and strategic analytics at scale for the entire health system.
Built on modern, cloud-based architecture and data technology, this is a hands-on technical leadership role. You’ll lead a high-performing Data Engineering team, set the architecture and technical roadmap, and embed best practice in data ingestion, transformation, integration and storage – all underpinned by strong governance, cyber security and performance.
In this role, you will:
- Own the platform – lead the architecture, technical roadmap and continuous improvement of NSW Health’s Enterprise Data Lake and its cloud-based data platforms
- Deliver end-to-end – drive the full data engineering and platform delivery lifecycle, ensuring loosely coupled systems that are simple, resilient and fit for purpose
- Lead and mentor – grow a team of Data Engineers building, maintaining and enhancing platform functionality and data products
- Assure quality – perform technical architecture, design and code reviews that lift engineering standards across the team
- Partner across the enterprise – engage Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Program Delivery and clinical stakeholders to enable the secure, scalable and strategic use of data

About You
We are looking for a senior data platform leader who:
- Has extensive experience designing and delivering modern, cloud-based data platform architectures in large-scale, complex and federated environments
- Brings deep, advanced hands-on capability across cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Cloud-based Ecosystem like Snowflake – including advanced python development experience, governance, security and the implementation of enterprise-grade data solutions in hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Has a proven track record leading end-to-end data engineering and platform delivery, driving continuous improvement and technical innovation
- Can lead, mentor and inspire a high-performing engineering team within a high-volume, complex environment
- Has well-developed analytical and documentation skills – able to synthesise complex technical and business information, evaluate options and produce clear, high-quality recommendations to support decision-making
