About your new role
As a Field Engineer, you will play a senior technical advisory role within Swagelok Australia & New Zealand, acting as a specialist in fluid system engineering and providing authoritative guidance across customer engagements, internal engineering workflows and solution development.
Reporting to the Field Engineering Supervisor within our Engineering Services team, you will strengthen Swagelok’s technical credibility by delivering high-level engineering insight, system interpretation and advisory support that helps us offer safe, reliable and commercially sound solutions.
You will be integrated across the customer project lifecycle from early discovery and qualification, through solution design and proposal development, and into troubleshooting, optimisation and technical review. While physical field activities such as surveys and installation oversight are carried out by our On-Site Services team, you will review their technical findings, validate engineering assumptions, and provide the deeper engineering interpretation needed to guide customers and internal teams. You will support customer visits where complex, high-risk or sensitive technical matters call for specialist input.
This is a consultative, influential role. You will act as a bridge between Sales, Engineering & Fabrications, give Account Managers the technical confidence to pursue advanced opportunities, and provide internal technical leadership that lifts the capability of the wider engineering team.
What you’ll be doing

- Use advanced sizing tools and engineering software (e.g. Swagelok sizing tools, AFT Arrow/Fathom, regulator sizing programs) to size valves, regulators, tubing, orifices, flowmeters and specialised third-party components.
- Conduct system-level evaluations of fluid systems: performance, contamination, reliability, installation practice, vibration risk, material compatibility and system integrity.
- Provide the deeper engineering interpretation of on-site findings gathered by the On-Site Services team, and attend customer visits where complex or high-risk matters require specialist input.
- Act as a bridge between Sales, Engineering & Fabrication teams, ensuring customer expectations, field conditions and engineering constraints are fully considered in design work, reducing rework and improving solution quality.
- Provide internal technical leadership, mentoring and supporting capability development across Applications Engineers, Project Engineers and Technical Specialists.
- Collaborate with Engineering Services leadership to refine the tools, processes, training and best-practice frameworks that lift technical standards across the business.
