QIC's People & Culture function is entering an exciting new phase. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced leaders in a collaborative, high-trust environment while influencing some of the most important people and governance decisions across the business.
Reporting to the Head of People Operations, you will provide expert advice on complex employee and industrial relations matters, while building contemporary governance frameworks, policies, tools and practices that support our people leaders and People & Culture team.
The Role
This is a standalone role with significant scope to influence how employee relations is managed across QIC globally.
You will partner closely with P&C Business Partners, Legal, Risk, WHS and business leaders to deliver practical, commercially focused solutions while ensuring compliance, consistency and fairness.
You will also play a key role in building capability across the People & Culture team by providing coaching, education and thought leadership on employee relations, industrial relations and policy matters.
What You'll Be Doing
Employee Relations
- Lead complex employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, investigations, workplace behaviour matters, grievances, restructures and agreed separations.
- Provide coaching and advice to leaders and People Business Partners on employee relations risks and outcomes.
- Support early intervention and resolution through mediation, coaching and facilitated discussions.
- Act as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters.
Industrial Relations & Governance
- Provide expert advice on employment legislation, industrial instruments and workplace relations matters.
- Own and maintain employment contracts, terms and conditions and governance controls globally.
- Monitor legislative developments and translate impacts into practical business advice.
- Ensure compliance with employment obligations through reviews, audits and risk mitigation activities.
Policy & Compliance
- Own QIC's People & Culture policy framework globally.
- Develop and maintain ER governance frameworks, templates, toolkits and procedures.
- Support audits, governance reviews and compliance reporting.
- Partner with Legal, Risk and WHS teams to manage people-related risk.
Capability & Continuous Improvement
- Build ER capability across the People & Culture function.
- Develop practical resources, education and guidance materials.
Identify opportunities to improve ER processes through technology, automation and AI-enabled tools.

About You
You are a pragmatic and commercially minded ER professional who enjoys solving complex people issues while building scalable frameworks and governance practices.
You will bring:
- Significant experience managing complex employee and industrial relations matters.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments and workplace relations frameworks.
- Experience operating within a regulated, professional services, corporate or financial services environment.
- Strong judgement and the ability to balance commercial outcomes with people risk.
- Experience developing policies, governance frameworks and ER tools.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and coaching capability.
- A collaborative approach and ability to influence across all levels of an organisation.
Experience across multiple jurisdictions (Australia, UK and/or US) will be highly regarded.
