Senior Project Engineer
RCR Mining Technologies is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our high-performing Engineering team in Welshpool. This role is instrumental in providing project engineering support across studies, proposals, project delivery, and engineering activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
As a Senior Project Engineer at RCR, you will play a key role in leading technical outcomes, mentoring engineering personnel, coordinating multidisciplinary project activities, and supporting the successful delivery of scopes across the mining and resources sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate engineering and project delivery activities across multiple projects and studies.
- Ensure all engineering works comply with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Support project management activities including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and progress monitoring.
- Prepare and review project schedules, methodologies, scopes of work, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Prepare project status reports and provide recommendations to support project outcomes.
- Manage technical queries, non-conformances, and project documentation throughout project execution.
- Evaluate and manage contractor, vendor, and subcontractor quotations and deliverables.
- Lead or support engineering studies, research and development initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide technical support to tendering and pre-contract teams during proposal and quotation development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Promote and uphold RCR's commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline).
5+ years' experience in a Project Engineering role within the Mining and Resources industry.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide engineering personnel.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, engineering design processes, and project delivery methodologies.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems and HSEQ requirements.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable:
- Project management experience within mining, resources, fixed plant, or materials handling projects.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Navisworks.
- Experience using MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent project scheduling software.
- Understanding of materials handling systems and machine design.
- Experience in tendering, estimating, and contract administration.
- Experience leading engineering studies, research and development projects, or multidisciplinary project teams.
