We are currently seeking an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Software Engineer (Developer) to support a major enterprise SAP environment within a complex government setting.
This role is ideal for a senior SAP developer with strong experience across SAP ABAP, Web Dynpro, technical design, enhancements, testing, support, and ERP / SRM maintenance. You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day SAP ERP and SRM operations, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, analysing and implementing enhancements, and contributing to the design, development, testing, and optimisation of SAP solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on technical SAP development capability with the ability to work collaboratively in a small team, support business-driven enhancements, and contribute to documentation, knowledge transfer, mentoring, and continuous improvement across the broader technology environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing SAP ABAP and Web Dynpro development
- Undertaking day-to-day maintenance of SAP ERP and SRM systems
- Responding to reported issues, including fault diagnosis, analysis, and rectification
- Supporting the analysis and implementation of enhancements across SAP ERP, SRM, and related areas
- Assisting with impact assessments for SAP support packs and enhancements
- Designing, configuring, testing, and implementing SAP ABAP, Web Dynpro, and Floorplan Manager programs, functions, and methods
- Assisting in the development and documentation of technical design standards
- Developing or supporting the development of test plans and user documentation
- Performing knowledge transfer, mentoring, and participating in code reviews
- Keeping current with common IT methodologies, frameworks, and best practices
- Working effectively in a small team environment
- Recording and maintaining files and information in accordance with organisational requirements
Key technical skills required:
- Strong experience in ABAP OO programming
- Experience with ABAP Reports, Dialog Programming, BDC, BAPI, LSMW, User-Exits, BADI, and Enhancements
- Strong experience with Web Dynpro, SAP Workflow, and Floorplan Manager
- Experience with ABAP HR Programming, ESS, and MSS
- Experience with SAP Scripts, Smartforms, Adobe Forms, and HR Forms
- Exposure to UI5 and Fiori
- Experience with ALE, IDOC, ABAP Proxies, REST Web Services, SAP Gateway, and OData Services
- Strong software engineering capability across systems design, systems integration, testing, release and deployment, software configuration, and software development
