Full Job Description

Your new role:
As a Principal House Officer/Registrar within the Acute Surgical Unit, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care while working closely with experienced senior medical staff by:

Managing surgical patients under the supervision of Senior Medical Officers and Consultants.
Assessing, examining and treating patients, including arranging investigations and procedures.
Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and timely medical documentation.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
Participating in clinical meetings, audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Contributing to the education, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
Engaging in ongoing postgraduate education, training and professional development.

About you:
You will be a motivated medical practitioner with a commitment to excellence in surgical care and a passion for continuous learning, with:

MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in General Surgery.
Previous Surgical PHO or Registrar experience (highly desirable).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
Well-developed time management, organisational and clinical decision-making abilities.
A commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
The ability to mentor junior staff and contribute positively to team culture.
A professional approach aligned with the values of integrity, respect, accountability and excellence.
