EDL 1-5 $110,242 - $123,470 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).

The Holmesglen Simulation Centre sits within the Health Science, Community and Social Studies (HSCSS) faculty, a recognised leader in simulation-based education both locally and internationally. Our world-class facilities at Moorabbin and Chadstone campuses play a key role in preparing students across health, community and social services for the workforce, supported by strong industry partnerships.
We are seeking an Applied Research Fellow to join our faculty. This is a unique opportunity to lead applied research within a collaborative and impact-driven environment!
In this role, you will design, deliver and translate applied research projects that inform education, industry practice and workforce capability. You will also play a key role in building research capability across the faculty, supporting academic staff and embedding evidence-based approaches into teaching and learning.
A strong focus of the role is developing and sustaining a high-quality research pipeline, including identifying and securing external funding through competitive grant applications. Working closely with industry, university and community partners, you will drive research that delivers meaningful, real-world impact while contributing to Holmesglen’s vision as a Centre of Excellence in applied research.
As an Applied Research Fellow, you will:

Lead end-to-end delivery of applied research projects, including design, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of findings through publications, reports and presentations.

Identify, develop and secure external research funding opportunities, including competitive grants and fellowships.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry, universities, professional bodies and community organisations.

Support and mentor academic staff in research and scholarly activity, contributing to capability uplift across the faculty.

Supervise research assistants and early career researchers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing research environment.

Integrate research into teaching and learning practices, supporting evidence-based education and continuous improvement.

Contribute to the Faculty’s Research Strategic Plan and enhance the profile of research at Holmesglen through external engagement.
To be successful, you’ll have:

A PhD or Professional Doctorate in a relevant discipline.

Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering applied research projects, including qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies.

Strong track record in producing research outputs, such as publications, reports and conference presentations.

Proven experience in identifying, developing and securing external research funding or grants, including the preparation of competitive applications and management of funded projects.

Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate research into practical, real-world outcomes.

Collaborative, innovative and outcome-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to timelines.
WWCC and Police Check:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
