Student Life

The Student Life Directorate delivers services and evidence-based programs for current students that aims to contribute to improved health and wellbeing; as well as supporting students to succeed in their higher education studies. The Directorate has three major teams focused on (1) Health and Wellbeing; (2) Students course advice, course progress and success; and (3) Student Experience and Student Voice. The Directorate focuses on taking a person-centred approach when engaging with students; collaboration across Schools and Directorates and continuous quality improvement to make a transformational and meaningful impact on students experience at University.

About the Opportunity

We are excited to be offering this new dynamic opportunity for a Coordinator of ECU's newest health and wellbeing support service, The Living Room. The successful candidate will be responsible for The Living Room on a day to day operational basis by:

leading a team of trained ECU students who act as Peer Support Advisors (PSAs) to other students seeking support;
providing escalated support to these same students;
coordinating rosters, supervising and providing further training to the PSAs;
leading promotion of The Living Room throughout the University and beyond.

About you

Our ideal candidate will:
Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant health discipline (Registered Nurse - Mental Health, Occupational Therapist, Counsellor, Psychologist, Social Worker), as well as full unrestricted registration with AHPRA, AASW, PACFA or other relevant professional body.
Demonstrate proven expertise in the application of evidence based clinical practice within the mental health field in a therapeutic, leadership and/or case management role
Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and risk assessments, with demonstrated understanding of trauma informed approaches and suicide prevention models.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of people and internal and external stakeholders.
Have experience providing clinical supervision and/or support for other staff, or peer-based roles.
Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in the facilitation, delivery and implementation of health promotion and/or mental health education programs.
