About you
We are looking for a Lawyer/Associate to join our to join our Commercial and Business Banking team in Brisbane, led by our Partner, Shantal Read.

- 1 – 3 PQE years’ experience demonstrated working experience as a Banking & Finance lawyer
- An ability to communicate effectively and professionally (written and verbal).

- A demonstrated skillset to manage timeframes and proactively manage priorities within a team.

Your role
This role will involve you acting for major banks and other banks and financial institutions as well as non-banks, including funds and privately owned companies, across a broad and diverse range of transactions.
You will get exposure to all types of property finance matters from term loan facilities and residual stock facilities through to constructing lending. You will also have the opportunity to work on commercial and corporate transactions for the major banks and smaller banks across all types of industries including agriculture, health, education, childcare and mining.
In the role, the type of work will include:
- Drafting and negotiating facility agreements and securities
- Providing advice to clients in a timely manner as issues arise throughout the course of a transaction and using your legal and technical expertise to formulate a commercial response
- Conducting due diligence, including reviewing presale contracts, leases and bespoke agreements and preparing side agreements as required
- Working closely with our Construction team in relation to advice provided to clients in relation to building contracts
- Working closely with our Restructuring and Insolvency sub-group, which sits within the team in relation to advice required by clients to manage early defaults
- Conducting settlement on PEXA or in paper, if necessary
- Acting across a range of cross border matters, although the majority of the work will be Queensland based; and
- Regularly meeting with clients to discuss matters and for the purposes of relationship building and marketing
