Full Job Description

Christ Church Grammar School is seeking applications from dynamic, passionate and committed educators for the full-time position of Assistant Head of Year 9 On Queenslea Drive (OQD) Program commencing in Term 1 2027.

The key focus of the role is to deliver a program which is nationally recognised as innovative and exemplary in the development of young men. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate leadership and creativity, with the ability to work in a team and effectively manage their time and on occasion staff throughout a repeated two-week residential program.

Applicants must recognise that pastoral care in a live-in environment is a significant and flexible commitment, extending beyond rostered duties to support students as needs arise. The role requires adaptability and an understanding that work patterns and personal time will differ from a typical schedule.

This full-time position comprises:

0.4 FTE Assistant Head of Year 9 On Queenslea Drive (OQD) Program
0.6 FTE teaching load, including classroom teaching in your specialist field

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, organisation, staffing and delivery of all OQD programs, including the Year 9 residential experience, weekend activities, and preparatory arrangements, ensuring smooth operation across the school year.
Work closely with Tutors, Heads of House, and the Head of OQD to address student needs, provide supervision, contribute to pastoral care, and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all participants.
Act as a proactive, flexible and collaborative member of the OQD team by maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, supporting program operations as directed, participating in meetings and events, engaging in professional development, and fulfilling broader school expectations and responsibilities.

What You’ll Bring

Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage risk in dynamic environments, with experience (or a genuine interest) in residential settings and supporting boys in live-in programs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, build relationships with students, parents and colleagues, and effectively manage challenges or conflict in a team environment.
Relevant qualifications and capabilities, including teaching credentials and registration, high-level digital proficiency, First Aid (and ideally CPR), an HR bus licence, and a demonstrated understanding of student wellbeing, cultural diversity and Rites of Passage principles.
