Details: Expressions of interest are sought for a Senior Finance Officer position within the ACT Courts and Tribunal Finance Unit. The Courts Finance team are looking for an enthusiastic person, an analytical and dynamic thinker who can monitor and track progress of multiple financial tasks to meet tight deadlines and reporting requirements.
The role has supervisory responsibilities and will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and trusts, bank transfers, bank and trust reconciliations, and transcript management.
The role requires coordination of annual financial activities such as insurance returns, asset stocktake, FBT return, unclaimed trust monies reporting and end of year reporting. In addition, the role undertakes monthly trust/bank reconciliations, and ACT Government and Commonwealth reporting throughout the year. This role will progress project work in the removal of cheques from the ACT Courts systems.
The Senior Finance Officer's primary role is to support a range of ad hoc, monthly and end of financial year accounting tasks and reporting deadlines. This role will require financial and management accounting experience to provide quality analysis, reporting and forecasting, and advice on a range of financial functions.
This role will be pivotal in assisting the Senior Director Finance in maintaining the complex accounting requirements for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) and will require an advanced excel skillset. This role will assist the management accountant with the internal budget allocation and reporting, financial modelling, forecasting and reporting using the TM1 budget/reporting application.
As the Senior Finance Officer, you will collaborate across teams providing timely advice and support.

The position requires an excellent working knowledge of the financial systems: Oracle. TM1 Web and TM1 perspective. A good working knowledge of financial processes and the use of Oracle, APIAS, TM1 (or similar), Microsoft Office suite is essential.

The position will appeal to a person who has good attention to detail, likes working in a busy office, can effectively communicate with internal and external clients and can negotiate and interpret legislation and procedural guidance.
This position requires the occupant to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia or hold a current Australian visa with full work rights.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 28 May 2027.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
