About Us

Orianna Sushi Cafe is seeking a professional and detail oriented Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is designed for a culinary professional who excels in a boutique setting where the emphasis is on the quality of every individual dish. You will be responsible for preparing a diverse menu that includes premium sushi, sashimi, and Japanese hot dishes within a refined environment.

You will perform following duties

· Prepare and cook a range of authentic Japanese dishes such as specialty donburi and curry rice while strictly regulating cooking temperatures and seasoning to ensure premium quality.

· Execute the precision slicing and preparation of sashimi grade seafood and other raw ingredients to maintain the highest standards of freshness and texture.

· Construct complex sushi items including nigiri and pressed sushi by hand using traditional techniques and specialized equipment.

· Design and arrange food on plates with a high level of aesthetic detail to meet the visual expectations of a boutique dining establishment.

· Inspect all food items and raw materials upon delivery to ensure they meet the specific quality and freshness requirements of the kitchen.

· Coordinate the timing of food preparation to ensure that all elements of a meal are ready for service simultaneously during busy periods.

· Adjust recipes and preparation methods to accommodate guests with specific dietary requirements or food allergies while maintaining the integrity of the dish.

· Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following established food safety management systems and keeping accurate temperature and cleaning logs.

· Monitor and estimate food requirements to assist with the ordering of stock and ingredients to minimize waste and manage inventory costs.

· Operate and perform routine maintenance on professional kitchen machinery and specialized Japanese knives to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.

· Participate in the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff to ensure that all preparation and cooking tasks are performed to a consistent standard.

· Collaborate with the management team to refine menu items and introduce seasonal specials that align with the culinary direction of the restaurant.

Requirements

· Applicants should hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a higher qualification in a related culinary field.

· In the absence of formal qualifications, several years of significant and relevant professional experience in a similar kitchen environment will be considered.

· A minimum of one year of experience working as a cook in a professional kitchen is required.

· Demonstrated knowledge of Japanese ingredients and various cooking techniques is highly advantageous.

· The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a professional and calm demeanour.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
