Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. This is achieved through a partnership of over 10,000 committed volunteers and their member centres in communities across the nation.

Lifeline Australia Ltd (LLA) is located in Sydney, with small teams of dedicated staff employed to lead funding and corporate relations activities, and to provide the design, technical infrastructure and governance of services across Lifeline’s member network. LLA recently embarked on an exciting transformation journey, guided by an ambitious strategic plan.

The 2024-2027 Strategic Plan will see enhancements across services, technology and workforce to bring about better outcomes and a more accessible and flexible support system for help-seekers

ROLE

The Crisis Support Trainer is responsible for supporting learners in their training to be volunteer Crisis Supporters with Lifeline. The role will deliver workshops and provided coaching and feedback to ensure those going onto service are appropriately trained and skilled.

This role will be exposed to traumatic content in the course of undertaking their duties. It is important and expected that the incumbent engage in proactive and positive mental health practices including accessing tools and services provided by Lifeline Australia to support their health and wellbeing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver training to volunteer leaners, maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Support and provide additional coaching and support to learners as needed or requested, including adapting delivery approaches.
Ongoing assessment of volunteer learner capabilities.
Identify performance or quality issues with learners (CS’s) and provide timely support.
Design and facilitate Q&A sessions for learners.
Collaborate with Learning Design to continually update training materials to ensure currency and impact.
Assess performance against the required standards for service.
Undertake regular audits to ensure interactions are in line with standards.
Report and document all matters – assessments, risks, trends etc.

ABOUT YOU

Full accreditation under a national health, social work, or counselling registration board.
Evidence of well-developed skills and competency in crisis support practice.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
Proven experience in coaching, providing feedback, and developing individuals to uplift capability.
Previous experience in monitoring quality and performance.
Proven experience in the delivery and facilitation of training and workshops.
Experience in adult education and/or training in a remote environment.
Previous experience working in a digital mental health service.
High level of proficiency with a wide range of software programs including Moodle LMS or similar, Microsoft Office suite, online meeting platforms.
