Your Role in the HDU
Working within the HDU at Modbury Hospital, you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centred nursing care to high-dependency adult patients across a diverse caseload. Reporting to the Nursing Director, your key responsibilities will include:
Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for HDU patients, recognising and responding to clinical deterioration promptly
Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe, effective patient journeys from admission through to discharge
Supporting junior nursing staff through mentorship and clinical guidance on shift
Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in line with SA Health standards and relevant legislation
What You Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated experience in high dependency or critical care nursing
Confident assessment skills and sound knowledge of haemodynamic monitoring and management
The ability to prioritise competing demands and communicate clearly under pressure
A commitment to the SA Health Care Always safety framework and patient-centred practice
Willingness to work a rotating part-time roster, including weekends and public holidays
To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
