Cubiko is looking for a Head of Engineering to join our team. We're a small software company based in Brisbane who provide analytics and tools to help medical practices run a successful business and drive patient outcomes. As a product company, our focus is on utilising technology and combining the skillsets of a diverse team to deliver genuine value to our customers. Engineering is a critical piece of this puzzle and in this leadership role you'll be empowered to shape and refine what that means within the broader company.
As Head of Engineering you would be responsible for leading our engineering team in building, maintaining, and evolving the systems that enable Cubiko to operate. Together with Design, Product, and Data Analytics, the Engineering team works in cross-functional squads to do effective product development and create the products that bring joy and value to our customers.
You'll report to the CTO and work closely with the heads of Product, Analytics, Sales, and Customer Success. We're open to candidates with varying levels of leadership experience, but you should have a strong technical foundation and a genuine care for the people you work with. You might have led engineering teams before, or you might be a senior engineer ready to step into your first dedicated leadership role.
More specifically, the key responsibilities of a Head of Engineering at Cubiko would include:
-
Team health: Day-to-day management of our engineering team, looking after their health, performance, and output.
- Technical cohesion and architecture: Work to align the Engineering team as a whole around consistent approaches to software and ways of working, even as each individual contributes to different projects.
- Get your hands dirty: Given the size of the company, there's opportunity and an expectation to occasionally roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team. As Head of Engineering you would be able to spend some time contributing across the full gamut of Cubiko's codebase to mentor other team members, and in order to understand and empathise with the day to day work of the engineering team.
Cubiko sells a suite of SaaS products built on top of a full-stack web application, an extensive data pipeline, and integrations with our customer’s systems. Our product is hosted in the cloud on AWS and Kubernetes, uses various pieces of open source software like Airflow, Cube.js and Clickhouse, and is programmed in a mix of Clojure, Python, SQL, and Typescript.
The development team currently consists of three product managers, two designers, six data analysts, and seven engineers. These chapters work together as part of smaller squads to deliver key projects for the business and our customers.
The culture at Cubiko is one of trust and collaboration. We do work that we can take pride in, for an industry that genuinely helps people, alongside a team that we respect and value. Working in healthtech, we believe in a healthy and sustainable approach to development and the business at large. Cubiko has a set of core values that are both a reflection of how we work and a guiding light that we aspire to.
-
Customer-Centric: Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Their success is our success.
- Trust Through Transparency: We're open, honest, and direct, even when it's uncomfortable.
- One Team: We respect, support, and celebrate each other. We win and learn together.
- Question the Conventional: We challenge norms and value bold ideas, no matter where they come from.
Baked into our culture from the early days of the company is a strong preference to collaborate in person. "Plan together, then get stuff done how you will." Currently the entire development team is colocated in and around Brisbane. While we have a flexible working environment and no strict or specific requirements on days in the office, this is an in-person role.
Cubiko are the pioneers in delivering practice insights to your team, empowering practices to perform at their best for every patient, every day.
