Due to successful project wins, our Brisbane team is growing, we are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join us.
About the role
- Contribute to the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering designs and feasibility studies.
- Competent at communicating ideas, and familiarity with ASME B31.3 and associated piping standards and their implementation in mineral processing plants
- Review and approve technical deliverables including P&IDs, isometrics, and piping specifications.
- Completion of piping calculations, including pipe wall thickness and branch reinforcement calculations, valve sizing, conical reducer calculations and line sizing calculations.
- Management and technical oversight of piping packages, including piping materials, piping fabrication, manual and actuated valves
- Ownership of the overall piping design, and coordination with other disciplines via ongoing reviews.
- Development of piping material take-offs for estimating, tender and procurement, to suit project requirements and level of progress
- Technical review of piping design and signoff of piping isometric drawings
- Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.
- Prepare equipment procurement packages, designs, calculations and cost estimates for conventional engineering, research, and development assignments.
- Develop networks and relationships within teams, across the organisation and with clients.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals and tenders (such as estimating design hours).
Basic management skills – be able to monitor workload; remain within assigned budget and alert supervisor if the budget estimate will be exceeded.

About you
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in pumps & piping design, engineering consulting and EPC/EPCM projects in the mining and resources sectors.
- Design experience using S3D, Hexagon Smart PID, Plant 3D, Fluidflow & Autopipe highly regarded.
- Project and/or site experience highly regarded.
- Ability to lead and mentor small teams.
- Sound understanding of current codes and standards including Australian and ASME.
- RPEQ or eligible for accreditation.
