About the Role
QT Canberra is on the hunt for a Sales Manager who can turn opportunity into revenue and a good team into a great one. Leading our Conferences & Events function, you'll shape strategy, drive proactive sales, and manage a team, while teaming up with the DOS to chase new revenue channels and push us ahead of market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all C&E sales activity at QT Canberra, maximising yield and conversion while contributing to strategy, budgeting, and forecasting for revenue streams
- Manage and develop a team of two Sales Executives and two Sales Coordinators, embedding best practice and building a high-performing, engaged team
- Drive department efficiency with a 24-hour turnaround on enquiries and accurate quotes, contracts, BEOs, and details on Ivvy, all while maintaining a high service standard
- Review business plans, monitor market trends and competitors, and proactively close gaps to meet revenue targets and grow above market
- Build strong client relationships through networking, site inspections, and post-event follow-up, turning great experiences into repeat business
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless event execution and full compliance with hotel policies, safety standards, and service quality
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a similar role managing a large C&E budget, backed by hands-on experience leading and developing team members.
- A true team player, comfortable working at pace and bringing energy and collaboration to a fast-moving environment.
- Natural rapport-building skills. We can teach the sales process, but the ability to connect with clients and earn their trust needs to be there from day one.
- Confident, clear communication, with the ability to work well across departments and hold your own when priorities clash.
- A go-getter mindset. You see opportunities where others see obstacles, and you chase them.
- A motivator at heart, able to keep the team engaged, energised, and pushing for excellence, plus willingness to travel interstate for trade shows as required.
Ideally you will have knowledge of Ivvy and Opera, and an understanding of the Canberra market. Neither is a deal breaker. We can teach both.
