We’re driving AI-led engineering on modern .NET & AWS platforms
You have full-stack .NET expertise with DevOps and AI curiosity
Together we build smart, scalable journeys for millions of customers
Do work that matters:
Bankwest has a rich heritage. We’re proud to be part of the fabric of Western Australia with a strong culture built on local support. With the support of a strong partner in CBA, we share a belief in the value of our brand, our potential for growth and a big aspirational Vision. Step into a role where your work directly shapes how millions of customers experience smarter, faster and more intuitive journeys every day. As a Principal Software Engineer in the Customer Growth Crew, you will lead the design and delivery of next generation, agentic systems that transform how we engage, support and grow customer relationships.
You will work end to end across modern .NET full stack platforms, cloud native AWS services and mobile ecosystems including Android and iOS, solving complex problems at scale and turning emerging AI patterns into real world impact. From designing resilient architectures to uplifting engineering practices across multiple chapters, your work will set the benchmark for quality, speed and innovation. This is hands on leadership where you remain close to the code, building from the ground up while shaping the technical direction of products that truly matter.
In this role, you will be exposed to some of the most exciting challenges in modern engineering, embedding agentic AI, LLMs and AI powered engineering into live customer journeys, and evolving how software is built, deployed and scaled. You will influence the Crew’s AI roadmap, translating strategy into tangible outcomes that improve performance, efficiency and customer experience across every touchpoint. Your impact will be felt not just in the systems you design, but in how teams think, collaborate and deliver, raising the bar on what great engineering looks like.
Whether you are modernising existing platforms, connecting mobile and backend capabilities, or pioneering new architectural patterns, the work you do will accelerate innovation across the organisation. This is an opportunity to leave a lasting imprint, driving meaningful change, building intelligent systems at scale, and shaping the future of engineering in a way that is visible, valued and deeply impactful.
See yourself in our team:
Join the Bankwest Customer Growth Crew a cross-functional team building the journeys that turn prospects into active customers. You will deliver seamless experiences across iOS, Android and React/Next.js, powered by .NET and ASP.NET Core microservices on AWS. The team owns a domain-driven, event-driven architecture, exposing secure capabilities through REST APIs, OAuth and webhooks. Every engineer contributes to solving complex, real-world problems that directly improve onboarding, identity and servicing experiences at scale.
What sets this team apart is its shared focus on AI-powered engineering. The crew is rethinking how software gets built by embedding intelligent automation into everyday delivery, enabling faster development, smarter testing and more adaptive customer experiences. It is a highly collaborative environment where engineers experiment, learn and evolve together, using AI to augment decision-making, accelerate delivery and continuously improve system performance. You will be part of a team shaping the future of modern engineering, where human expertise and AI work side by side to deliver better outcomes for customers.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Demonstrate strong leadership as a Principal Engineer, providing strategic direction and architectural oversight across complex, enterprise-scale systems
Act as a technical authority, defining engineering standards, best practices, and driving consistency across crews and chapters
Have deep expertise in designing and delivering end-to-end .NET/C# full stack solutions, including ASP.NET Core and modern frontend frameworks like React and Next.js
Bring hands-on experience across the full SDLC, from architecture and design through to deployment, optimisation, and continuous improvement
Architect scalable, resilient systems using modern patterns such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and domain-driven design
Are proficient with cloud-native engineering on AWS, including Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/CDK), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD (GitHub Actions)
Champion engineering excellence through strong testing practices (TDD, automation), observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog), and quality tooling
Are beginning or progressing their journey in AI-driven engineering, applying GenAI and agentic AI frameworks (e.g. LangChain, Semantic Kernel, RAG) to improve productivity, automation, and software delivery outcomes
Influence cross-team alignment and innovation by mentoring engineers, collaborating across mobile and backend platforms, and shaping future-ready engineering capability that blends deep technical expertise with AI strategy
