Technology and Operational Context
The IT department supports the Sydney head office, NSW branch offices, interstate offices and selected overseas operations. The department is responsible for maintaining business continuity, safeguarding sensitive client and organisational data, supporting network connectivity, administering server and user environments, and contributing to the development and maintenance of in-house technology platforms.
This role is focused on hands-on network administration, systems support, security, cloud infrastructure, user support and technical documentation. The position requires a practical ICT professional who can support the company's operational network environment while also contributing to branch setup, migration, cloud hosting, CRM and infrastructure improvement projects.
Current and Ongoing ICT Projects
The successful candidate will support and contribute to a range of business-critical ICT projects and systems, including:
- Network Infrastructure Upgrade and Migration - Sydney Headquarters: improving performance, scalability and security through Cisco routers and switches, VLANs, subnetting, firewall rules, VPN services, monitoring tools and backup practices.
- AWS Website Hosting, Cloud Architecture and Database Migration: designing, implementing and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure, including static website hosting, CloudFront CDN, Route 53 DNS integration, SSL certificates, VPC networking, IAM security controls, logging and performance monitoring. Leading cloud migration and database migration projects between AWS environments, including data extraction, transformation, replication, validation, optimisation and cutover planning to ensure secure, scalable and highly available cloud operations.
- In-House CRM Setup, Migration and AWS Maintenance: supporting AWS cloud architecture, secure VPCs, IAM roles, data encryption, CRM data migration, backups, CloudWatch monitoring, GuardDuty alerts, CI/CD coordination and performance tuning.
- Branch Network Setup and Support: supporting new and existing office networks, including Blacktown, Rockdale, Parramatta and interstate operations in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Tasmania.
- Video on Demand and Digital Content Hosting: supporting AWS-based hosting for training, marketing and internal communication resources.
- Ongoing Network Administration and Support: maintaining Cisco, Juniper, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik and related infrastructure; Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VOIP, Google Workspace, monitoring, vulnerability scanning, patching and end-user support.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Network Analyst / Computer Network and Systems Engineer to support, maintain and enhance the network and systems infrastructure used across EEVS's Australian and international operations. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for ensuring secure and reliable connectivity, effective server and user account administration, strong network performance, responsive technical support and continuous improvement of the company's ICT environment.
Based in Sydney, the role will work closely with the Tech and Innovation Lead, internal users, branch teams and other stakeholders to maintain daily operations and assist with network upgrades, office setup, CRM infrastructure, cloud hosting, security monitoring and documentation. The successful candidate will be expected to support both BAU operations and project-based work across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
The role will perform the following duties:
- Plans and coordinates the network configuration of new Windows servers.
- Maintains Windows desktop operating system patches.
- Configures and maintains Windows Active Directory user login accounts, user and file permissions, file shares, storage quotas, server printer drivers and print shares.
- Installs and maintains Juniper, Cisco, and related routers and switches.
- Configures appropriate routing tables and routing protocols, network interfaces and wide area network connections for routers.
- Installs, configures and maintains VLANs, port security and access lists on infrastructure Cisco Ethernet switches.
- Installs, configures and maintains wireless networks.
- Configures and maintains essential IP services including DNS, DHCP, SMTP and SNMP on Windows servers and desktop systems.
- Maintains and configures address translations and port security access lists for Internet firewall systems.
- Configures and maintains VOIP telephone systems.
- Provides telephone, e-mail and in-person support for network-related problems.
- Maintains user accounts, quotas, connectors, and e-mail routing configurations for Google Workspace email exchange.
- Conducts routine security scanning for malicious software and suspicious network activity.
- Conducts protocol analysis to identify and remedy network performance issues.
- Programs network applications as needed such as web, network monitoring, bandwidth utilization, general data collection, reporting, and automated response to abnormal or undesirable network conditions.
- Provides training in the use of network-related computer hardware and software.
- Contributes to the overall success of Information Services by performing all other essential duties as assigned.
- Works with Procurement Services to prepare and evaluate bid specifications for purchasing and maintaining network hardware, software, and services.
- Analyse, develop, interpret and evaluate complex network and systems designs, architecture specifications, technical requirements and infrastructure frameworks.
- Research, analyse, evaluate and monitor network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, scalability and security.
What You Bring: Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in computer networking, systems administration, network infrastructure support, or a closely related ICT field.
- Relevant ICT Qualification: Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Network Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Network and Systems Experience: Practical experience in network administration, computer network and systems engineering, Windows Server administration, Active Directory, routing, switching, wireless networks, VPN, VLANs, firewalls and user support.
- Cloud and Hosting Exposure: Experience or strong working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, VPC, Route 53 and CloudWatch, together with cloud security, backups, DNS and website hosting concepts.
- Security and Monitoring: Ability to conduct routine security scanning, patch management, malware detection, protocol analysis, performance monitoring and troubleshooting to maintain secure and reliable operations.
- Collaboration Tools: Experience supporting Google Workspace, Jira Service Management, remote support tools and internal documentation processes.
- Multi-Site Support: Ability to support users, branch networks and infrastructure across several office locations, including remote and interstate teams.
- Communication and Documentation: Strong ability to document network diagrams, IP allocations, access controls, support procedures, inventory and technical changes in a clear and accountable manner.
- Professional Approach: A hands-on, service-focused and security-conscious approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and support both operational and project work.
Technical Environment
The role involves working across a broad ICT environment, including:
- Network infrastructure: Juniper, Cisco, Mikrotik, Ubiquiti UniFi/Meraki, routers, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, ACLs, VPNs and routing protocols.
- Server and operating systems: Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, file shares, SMTP, SNMP and Linux hosting environments.
- Cloud and virtualisation: AWS EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Security and monitoring: firewall management, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanning, patch management, malware detection and performance monitoring.
- Support platforms: Google Workspace, Jira Service Management, helpdesk support, staff training and IT systems documentation.
