About the role
The Ward Clerk is accountable to the Administrative Manager, Surgical Services Division for the provision of a comprehensive confidential administrative service to the Surgical Wards. Tasks include coordinating patient admissions, facilitating equipment and stationary ordering, and booking patient follow up appointments
Key duties of the role
Provide a comprehensive, confidential medical administrative service to the Division of Surgical Services
Maintenance of Patient Information Systems and provide a comprehensive, confidential medical administrative service to the Surgical Wards
Preparation of Unit Records for admission the following day in coordination with the Admissions Centre and Elective Pre-Admission Coordinator.
Contribute to the provision of the efficient management of ORMIS Theatre Bookings
Participating in the development, maintenance and updating of administrative procedures and policies where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated competency in word processing, excel, power point, e-mail and scheduler
Demonstrated initiative and good organisational skills, ability to set priorities, work under pressure and undertake some problem solving with limited assistance
Experience in an administration type role
Understanding patient rights and responsibilities and confidentiality
