Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to form part of our specialist team in the Industrial and Resource Division. The role is a full-time permanent position, and the successful applicant will be responsible for the overall performance of the Lift-N-Lock gantry system, leading the operations and safety management across the various sites this system operates.

· Preparation of Safe Work Method Statements

· Preparation of Lifting and Transportation Plans and Studies

· CAD drawings to assist in SWMS / Transport Plans / Lifting Plans / Design

· Solid Works / AutoCAD / Microsoft Office Suite for technical Presentations

· Preparation of Tenders and Quotations

· Preparation of Transportation Permits for Trucks and Cranes

· Permit renewal and new applications for plant

· Engagement of clients in a business development capacity – working together with our business development team

· Review monthly P&L for the Lift-N-Lock division and ensure cost containment and variance management to budget are understood and corrected.

· Compliance Audit Reporting – including SAO’s, organisational risk assessments and procedural reviews, Crane Inspection process

· Incident Investigation process – where it arises and based on appropriateness of situation

· Job Inspection paperwork and job pack creation for specialised projects

· Administration (General)

· Management and co-ordination for the Lift-N-Lock Gantry

· In field route surveys for transportation

· Client Meetings / Liaison

· Site inspections for Projects

· Master’s degree – Mechanical Engineering

· Licence to perform high risk work – forklift and boom elevated work platform

· Three (3) years minimum proven experience in the heavy haulage transport industry

· Three (3) years proven experience in management and operations of a Lift-N-Lock Gantry system

· Flexibility to meet commitments of project work which will require travelling for short periods of time away from home across both weekdays and weekends

· Strong management experience of staff in Transport and Warehousing

· Understanding of fatigue management, duty of care and chain of responsibility principals derived for the transport industry

· Strong knowledge of NHVR, OHS and oversize load and compliance

· Knowledge of out of gauge and heavy load transport practices

· Knowledge of crane hire and crane industry practices, particularly with Qld

· Good understanding of processes to safely load, secure and move heavy plant

· Confident communicator and natural problem solver who leads from the front

· Calm under pressure, proactive and committed to getting the job done right

· Confident in planning routes, permits and schedules – balancing efficiency, compliance and safety

· Experience running out of mass transport and legislated safety practices within heavy haulage environment
