About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Remote Control Room Operator to join our Operations Centre and provide real-time monitoring and operational support for a portfolio of utility-scale solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Australia.
Reporting to the Control Room Supervisor, you will be responsible for monitoring asset performance, responding to alarms and events, coordinating field personnel, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of renewable energy assets in accordance with operational procedures, network requirements, and safety standards.
This role operates on a rotating shift roster, providing 24/7 operational coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the real-time performance and availability of solar farms, BESS, substations, and associated infrastructure.
- Respond to operational alarms, faults, and abnormal plant conditions in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate with field technicians, contractors, network operators, and asset owners to manage incidents and outages.
- Execute remote switching and control activities where authorised and permitted.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, event records, and shift handover reports.
- Escalate significant operational issues to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with generation dispatch instructions, network requirements, and operational limits.
- Support emergency response activities and incident management processes.
- Track and report plant performance, availability, and operational KPIs.
- Assist with planned maintenance coordination and outage management.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Experience in a control room, operations centre, monitoring centre, or similar operational environment prefered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong computer literacy and experience using SCADA, monitoring, or asset management systems.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with remote teams.
- Willingness to work a rotating shift roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III/IV, Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Experience operating utility-scale solar farms, wind farms, BESS, or other power generation assets.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, power system operations, and network control procedures.
- Understanding of Australian electricity markets and National Electricity Market (NEM) operations.
- Knowledge of HV switching principles and electrical safety practices.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
