Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 1,600 store partners, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and company policies.
You will play a key role in maintaining payroll data integrity, supporting audit readiness, and delivering high-quality payroll services across the organisation
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing

End-to-end weekly payroll processing

Accurate calculation of wages, overtime, allowances, and deductions

Processing new starters, terminations, and employee changes

Responding to employee payroll queries (pay, leave balances, deductions)

Maintaining strict confidentiality of employee data

Processing and reconciling superannuation payments

Preparation and lodgement of statutory reporting

Payroll reconciliation prior to processing

General Ledger reconciliation of payroll accounts

Investigation and resolution of discrepancies

Supporting payroll system improvements and upgrades
Reporting & Financial Support

Prepare payroll reports for finance and management

Assist with month-end and year-end reporting

Support audit requests with payroll data and documentation
Accounts Payable (Backup Support)

Process invoices and payments as required

Accurately code non-PO invoices

Match PO invoices
-
Manage Accounts Payable inbox queries
Qualifications
About You:

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in high-volume payroll processing

Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation

High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy

Excellent numerical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication skills and customer service mindset

Experience working in large organisations

Familiarity with ADP payroll systems

Exposure to Dynamics 365 Finance

Broader understanding of awards and enterprise agreements

We’ve based in Collingwood, with expansive end-of-trip facilities (all shower amenities soaps & towels included), concierge services with dry-cleaning and parcel collection provided, and current building works for our very own Starbucks café on-site. We work on a hybrid model with 3 days in office, 2 from home.
