Look no further - we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Midwives to join our High-Risk Antenatal Inpatient Unit at John Hunter Hospital.

About our Ward

Our Birthing Services offer a diverse, high‑acuity and highly supportive clinical environment, caring for women across multiple models of care.

Level 6 Birth Suite, providing comprehensive intrapartum care
Birth Centre Team, supporting low‑risk, physiological birth
Midwifery Models of Care, including:

Belmont MGP, incorporating home birthing
Hunter MGP
M3T- High risk MGP

Emergency Maternity Service

Midwives working in Birth Suite also have opportunities for secondment into our midwifery models of care, supporting continuity, skill development, and career progression.

We are preparing to move into our state‑of‑the‑art, brand new maternity facility in September 2026. This purpose‑built environment will include:

A stand‑alone Birth Centre, separate from Birth Suite
Water immersion options available in all birth rooms
Modern, thoughtfully designed spaces that support safe, evidence‑based, and woman‑centred birthing

Requirements:

Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
