The Opportunity
Joining Aveo’s Community Finance team as an Assistant Accountant, you will help shape the financial success of our retirement communities by performing a high volume of accounting tasks. This is a great opportunity for an Accountant early in their career looking for career growth in a stable industry.
Your Impact
- Perform a high volume of key accounting tasks that support our communities, such as balance sheet reconciliations, cost recharges and bulk journal postings.
- Assist our team of Management Accountants with ad hoc tasks and provide support where necessary.
- Support with coding of Accounts Payable invoices and other payment requests.
- Assist with the year-end audit process
- Identify improvements to accounting processes and documentation.
- Build strong connections with the Community Finance team and wider Operations team.
What you'll bring
- 1+ years of experience in a finance, AP/AR or accounting role (e.g. Assistant Accountant or similar)
- Qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance, with a desire to commence or progress toward CA/CPA
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working in a large accounting application (e.g. TechOne or similar)
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and connect with the team
- The ability to manage and process a high volume of financial data accurately and efficiently
