Professional expertise. Personal purpose.
Do you thrive in customer service and want to help shape development in a growing city?
As a Gateway Town Planner, you will manage planning enquiries from residents, builders and consultants. You will provide clear advice on zoning, development controls and approval pathways so customers understand what they can build and how to move forward.
Each day, you will lead pre lodgement discussions, reviewing draft proposals and identifying issues early. You may guide a homeowner on height limits or a range of other planning matters before plans are finalised or advise a developer on required reports before lodgement. Responding to phone, email and counter enquiries is a key part of the role, with advice provided in line with planning controls. You will also work closely with assessment planners to ensure guidance is accurate and practical.
Your work will improve application quality and help reduce delays during assessment. Clear advice allows customers to make informed decisions and progress with confidence. Over time, this supports better development outcomes for the community and a more efficient planning process.
You will join a supportive team and build your planning experience in a stable environment. If you communicate clearly and enjoy helping people navigate complex processes, this role will suit you.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams – and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a term contract, full-time role for up to 7 months with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,933.33 per week
- a 35-hour working week
- a car allowance
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
- 12% superannuation and generous leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
