The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
Student Support Services aims is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialized support at individual, group, and school levels. Working in our Student Support Services team is deeply meaningful, highly rewarding, challenging, and dynamic and gives you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the lives of children and young people, their families, schools, and communities.
You'll work with a diverse group of people who share a common goal, and you will be well supported to use your professional skills and knowledge to provide specialised support at the individual, group, school, and area level. Our dynamic team comprises Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Behavioural Analyst, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers. You will also work with other Area and regional staff, such as, Education Improvement Leaders, Visiting Teachers, School Nurses to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes in schools.
About the Role
SSS do vital work in supporting students' health and wellbeing - particularly our most vulnerable students and are critical to building an excellent education system that reduces the impact of disadvantage. SSS staff work collaboratively with schools, students and parents to facilitate improved emotional health and wellbeing for students.
The successful applicant will drive the implementation of evidence-based and multidisciplinary interventions in collaboration with the Area team and provide professional leadership that supports the work of others, as well as provide professional advice to management, school leaders and team members. The Team leader will also be responsible for the coordination of emergency management and critical incident response in schools and school communities. The successful applicant will be required to manage a small caseload of complex cases, engage with community service organisations, and other professionals regarding the support needs for students and schools
This position is based in Bendigo. Travel is a requirement as part of service delivery. SSS staff have access to departmental fleet vehicles. The tenure this position is 1.0FTE ongoing
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
Appropriate Allied Health qualification and eligibility for registration with the associated professional organisation.
