The Role:
You will bring expert civil engineering expertise to Worley and its customers, managing a portfolio of projects across multiple major customers including Chevron, Rio Tinto, Woodside and others. Your skills will include strong technical design experience, as well as design management experience across similar projects of high complexity.
This position is based in our Perth office with flexible working from home options available.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of civil engineers and designers to meet Worley, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Take responsibility for the technical delivery of all civil-related elements of an iron ore project, including access roads, construction pads, bulk and detailed earthworks associated with a new pipeline, as well as general mining support infrastructure development.
- Perform tasks such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
- Clarify project scope and identify changes to the Lead Civil Engineer in line with project change management processes;
- Gather data from multiple sources and prepare engineering studies, analyses and calculations. Support the technical development of solutions and recommendations, and create final documentation for project deliverables.
- Participate in bid clarifications, conduct bid evaluations, complete inter-discipline vendor information reviews and approvals, and finalise other certification activities.
- Be responsible for the following:
- Scope management
- Promotion of workshare between various Worley offices
- Cross-disciplinary coordination to support successful delivery of customer requirements
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its customers' requirements.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in civil engineering.
- Support effective communication with the civil engineering team and project stakeholders, including customers.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
What you will bring
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant degree
- 15+ years' experience in civil engineering design in the mining, energy and/or infrastructure sector
- Familiarity with software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD and 12D would be beneficial
- Prior experience managing a team delivering projects under a tight schedule is essential
- Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements
- Exposure to developing civil design across a range of project cycles using Australian Standards
- Agility working across multiple platforms and environments, including Microsoft 365 and other collaboration tools
- Experience working with teams from diverse backgrounds and geographic locations
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
