Labourer / Trade Assistant

Pay: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour (depending on experience)

We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Labourer / Trade Assistant to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position working alongside our qualified tradespeople in a busy steel and aluminium fabrication environment. The successful applicant will assist with fabrication preparation, material handling, workshop organisation, spray painting, deliveries, and general labouring duties while learning valuable skills within the steel and aluminium industry.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish a long-term career in fabrication, manufacturing, or the construction industry.
Duties Include
- Assisting boilermakers, welders, and fabricators with daily tasks
- Loading and unloading steel and aluminium products
- Preparing materials for fabrication and assembly
- Preparing structural steel for painting
- Spray painting beams, columns, and fabricated steel components
- Masking, cleaning, and surface preparation prior to painting
- Operating machinery and equipment under supervision
- Cleaning and maintaining the workshop and yard
- Assisting with deliveries and customer collections
- Organising stock and materials
- Using hand and power tools safely
- General labouring and trade assistant duties
- Following workplace health and safety procedures

Desirable but Not Essential
- Previous experience in a workshop, construction, manufacturing, or trade environment
- Experience with industrial spray painting or surface preparation
- Forklift Licence (LF)
- White Card
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Basic welding or fabrication experience

Employment Details
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 7:30am – 2:30pm
- No weekend work
- Overtime available when required
- Flexible days and hours may be negotiated for the right candidate
